Before The Installation
During The Installation
- Make plans to have old tile or flooring removed before the installation process.
- All furniture should be moved from the installation areas, check with us about the installer to do this for you or not
- In general, your linear or rectangular tile should run parallel to windows or, in narrow rooms, to the longest wall.
- The installer will measure door clearances before you have your tile installed. If the new floor is thicker than your existing floor, door bottoms may need to be cut to prevent dragging. Plan to have this done in advance if possible.
- All painting or wallpaper should be done before and flooring installation.
During The Installation
- Subfloor: Make sure your subfloors are level, smooth and sound before installation begins. Cement backer board must be installed first in many wood subfloor cases as well as shower walls. Starting the installation with a clean floor that is level, sound and ready is critical to having a best and complete result.
- Installation: We measure for layout of the new flooring first, then determine a starting point with chalk-lines and spacers to insure straight flooring. Grout is installed after the tile is complete and cannot be walked on for 24 to 48 hours afterwards.
- Cleaning and sealing: We make sure your new tile is cleaned and no grout left behind during the final steps of the installation. We can seal the grout for you if you wish, this is our complementary service as our way of thanking you for your business.
